About the event
A force in the city’s jazz scene since 2016, Charlotte has spent nearly a decade crafting her sound as both a sideman and star. Since stepping into the spotlight in 2021, she’s led high-energy ensembles across Canada’s top stages — Toronto Jazz Festival, Kensington Market Jazz Festival, Port Hope, Mont Tremblant, and a knockout appearance at Massey Hall’s Women’s Blues Revue where she belted out originals that brought the house down.
But it’s her recent return from New Orleans that has taken her artistry to new heights. With regular gigs at famed venues like The Spotted Cat and Fritzel’s Jazz Pub, and sit-ins at Preservation Hall, Snug Harbor, and the Danny Barker Festival, Charlotte dug deep into the roots of Traditional New Orleans Jazz. She lit up the French Quarter Festival on trombone with Monty Banks and delivered the goods at Jazz Fest with gospel-funk icon Glen David Andrews.
